Queer and Trans Drawing Club

  • Hutt Art Society 11 Myrtle Street Lower Hutt, Wellington Region, 5010 New Zealand (map)

Come and try drawing together in a welcoming and fun space! Queer and trans drawing club is a creative community space for LGBTTQI+, takataapui, queer, and trans people – we draw amazing models from our community, dressed how they wanna be – cloaks, tutus, big boots….

The first part of the session is taught, with a range of playful exercises to try out and have fun with. Then we have timed poses from our fabulous models, and draw how we want to. Materials are provided, plus people bring their own – all welcome! Club is in a beautiful, purpose built painting studio, full of light, private, and with a range of seating options. There are easels, stools, chairs and bean bags It is a safe space for people to be creative, and mix with people of diverse genders, sexualities, cultures, and ages. Sian is an experienced teacher and facilitator, who designed and has taught Queer and trans drawing classes for a decade.

“Sian leads people to explore and express their own creativity and the well of creativity that comes from our queer identities and experiences.”

“Supportive of my creative expression and encouraging me to explore new techniques to whakamana my work.”
