Congratulations to the winners of Rainbow Windows of Wellington!
Over the past couple of weeks, the rainbow has been rolled out all over town with 45 different retailers decorating their windows with their interpretations of the spirit of Pride. Ultimately, Wellington was the absolute winner with gorgeous windows popping up from Tawa to Kilbirnie, but we thought we'd include a little friendly competition too.
Our judging panel of personality Queen Olivia III , artist Pepper Raccoon and Wellington on Plater Beth Brash chose one window:
"Our favourite window goes to Red Cross Adelaide Road, for their resourceful and creative approach to unapologetically fun Pride! It was eye-catching, featured a giant dick, leather daddy, Britney Spears, a Gay Symphony, honestly it had everything. We love that they put the window together with things from the shop, but with an artistic vision and sense of fun that really shone through and could be seen from the street!"
The judges also had honourable mentions for their personal favourites Frank Productions, Ninjaflower, IkoIko, and Holland Road.
"We absolutely loved each offering and thought they brought something unique that showed effort and celebration of PRIDE!"
As well as a judging panel, we also had a people's choice award, and we were thrilled that nearly 500 people case a vote for their favourite. In third place was Frank Productions, followed at second by Mandatory. With 20% of the total vote, our winner was HUHA Cuba Street.
