GiveOUT Day & other fundraisers
We hate asking for money. We know things are incredibly tough for a lot of people. But we also know how important Pride is, and we can’t run the festival for free. Luckily, we’ve got a couple of events coming up where you can hang out with the queer community and support our work, and we’re also thrilled to be part of Rainbow New Zealand Charitable Trust’s GiveOUT Day.

This one isn’t actually a fundraiser - in fact, it’s totally free for all participants. Come join us at Te Whare Kahukura at 2/330 High Street, Lower Hutt on Saturday between 1pm-4pm. More details over in our events section.
Big Girls Don’t Cry screening: 29 September
Join Wellington Pride Festival for a fundraising screening of Big Girls Don't Cry on 29 September at the Penthouse Cinema in Brooklyn. The film will be opened by special guest director Paloma Schneideman.
The movie will be screened with open captions for all our Deaf, ESL and ADHD community members and we'll have stickers, zines and other fun things to make the night a little bit more special. Tickets are available on Humanatix.
GiveOUT Day - 8-12 October
From 8 October to 12 October, if you donate to us via our Raisely page, your donations will be matched. Your $5 gift will become $10. Your $500 could become $1000. Get friends to pitch in what they can too and that money gets doubled as well.
Yes, we’ll keep applying for grants so we can run the festival. We’ll keep selling merch, and hosting fundraising events. But on GiveOUT Day, you and other members of our community can make a real difference to our financial security for planning the 2027 festival.
So please, if you can, put aside a little money now, and ask anyone else you know to do the same.
Maybe you could do a whip around at work?
Could your school or workplace have a mufti day?
Maybe your Rainbow employee group wants to do a bake sale or clothing swap?
You probably have other amazing ideas too!
Then between 8-12 October, donate that that money to us via Raisely, so that the Rainbow Charity Trust NZ can double it.

On GiveOUT Day itself, our amazing friends the Pride Parade and the Party Boys are throwing us a party!
