Te Waka Huia Wellington Museum is proud to bring back Chosen Family Night, a vibrant evening filled with queer history, art, and community, in collaboration with Wellington Pride Festival.

Your not-so-typical night at the museum is hosted by the lovely Lilly Loudmouth and the festivities include:

  • Rainbow history tours

  • Drag appearances

  • Dirty, filth poetry readings

  • Live music performances

  • Wholesome crafts

  • Inu, kai and a low-sensory chill out space

The two craft projects are:

  • The continuation of special rainbow knitting project with Knitorious Lulu, Arlo & The Stitch-Up Crew

  • A collage activity led by Will Hansen of Kawe Mahara Queer Archives Aotearoa

This event welcomes all members of the rainbow community and allies. While this is an all-ages event, a cash bar will be available with alcohol served to 18+ with valid ID.
