Protection-Connection: A live studio happening

  • Lower Hutt (location shared on booking) Lower Hutt, Wellington Region New Zealand (map)

The studio is a place of making, process, excitement, challenge. Full of colour and energy, queerness and embodied creativity, a sculptural installation will be built here exploring how we protect ourselves, and also reach out to connect with each other. To be open and shining, honest and beautifully radical, yet also soft and nurtured, held with gentleness. This new work, only available to view for this one day, will imagine what protection and connection could look, feel, and sound like. The artist will also perform new poetry about the art making process, and how it all happens in this special space. Drawings and wearable sculptures / jewellery, to protect and celebrate our shining hearts will be available for sale.

Siân Quennell Torrington is an artist exploring relationships of interconnectivity, and interdependence, through an expressive language of colour, mark making and structural props that hold drawings and sculptures together, as we are held together. Siân has run Queer and trans drawing class for a decade, and created numerous creative projects for the LGBTQI+ community.
